About Us |
At Camp Yanowach (pronounced Ya-know-wok) our vision is to train young adults how to study God's word and apply it through serving and ministering to children who come to camp. The lessons that they learn are interwoven into the fabric of everything that we do during a normal day of camp. Every activity has a biblical application time and there are group share times and fun scripture memory times called water shares. This is flows out of our group worship and Bible times everyday. We are preparing for our 2008 camp. Check back soon for dates and prices. |

Our Story |
This vision and passion was birthed out of God-given experiences that Michael and Misty both had. When Michael became a Christian, he wanted to make a difference in the world for Christ. His year of teaching in China to middle school and college students solidified this passion of making Christ known in college students and missions. When Misty became a Christian, she wanted to make difference as well. After working two summers at Camp Marannook in Alabama, she realized her passion was in children and families. When Michael and Misty were married, they knew that they wanted to be in some form of ministry. After some searching, they both felt God leading them to start a camp much like the camp Misty had worked. It satisfied the passion in Michael for working with college students and the passion in Misty for working with children and families. It was definitely a sweet gift from God that it was in a camp setting because Michael and Misty both love the outdoors. The River Community Church has been our biggest supporter and partner in starting this ministry. With their help we launched our first camp in June 2005. It was a success, although not perfect, and we are excited about the many summers to come.Michael graduated from Liberty Theological Seminary and loves to study and help others learn how to study and live out the truths in God's Word. Michael and Misty have their hands full with three beautiful daughters Hannah, Rebekah, and Emma. |
